EUSCOMvu2

EUSCOMvu2

EUSCOMvu2 is the operational coastal modelling and validation system for the southeastern Bay of Biscay. The system, based on CROCO (Coastal and Regional Ocean COmmunity model), is integrated into EuskOOS (Operational Oceanography System of the Basque Country) to estimate the spatiotemporal evolution of the main physical variables (sea level, temperature, salinity and currents) of the marine environment. The atmospheric forcing (hourly and with a horizontal resolution of 12 km) used in CROCO comes from WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting model).

The marine conditions (hourly and with a horizontal resolution of 3 km) applied to the open boundaries of the domain come from NEMO (Nucleus for European Modelling of the Ocean). The system includes freshwater flows from the main rivers in the simulation domain.
